THE CAMPBELL YOUTH COMMISSION'S Work Plan
The Campbell Youth Commission work plan was divided amongst the several subcommittees that address our top concerns for youth in Campbell. Below are our goals and plans.
The Environment subcommittee seeks to plan events and challenges that will draw awareness to environmental issues in our world today, and encourage the development of sustainable habits among youth. We plan to hold #teenssavingearth challenges virtually as well as an environment-focused webinar series.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT SUBCOMMITTEE:
The Civic Engagement subcommittee aims to inform and involve our city’s youth in local city government through fun and engaging events. We hosted a voter registration event in the fall and we are planning a Coffee and Politics event for this spring!
COLLEGE AND BEYOND SUBCOMMITTEE:
The College and Beyond subcommittee seeks to educate and aid youth through post secondary planning, as well as help students undergoing college and career application process. Our events this year include an annual essay workshop, college panels and information sessions, and more.
SOCIAL JUSTICE SUBCOMMITTEE:
Overall, the Social Justice subcommittee aims to promote spaces where people can come together to learn about and discuss important issues even during these isolating times. One of the goals this term is to hold multiple speaker events, one about immigration reform and the other about gender equality. We also would love to hold a virtual women’s march poster making event.
The Wellness subcommittee aims to plan events relating to physical and mental wellness, as well as planning events for seniors. We are currently planning a mental health awareness seminar and intend to host a yoga and meditation event in the spring. We hope to improve the well-being of those living in Campbell, and make Campbell a better city overall.
The goal for our Recreation subcommittee is for the people in the City of Campbell have events that they can do as a family or just with the kids to bring the community together during these hard times. We want everyone to feel involved and apart of our city.
The Academics subcommittee aims to lend a helping hand to middle and high school youth of Campbell and find ways to make learning more fun! We plan to host trivia nights and study groups throughout the term.
